Avon Adventure 620
The Avon Adventure 620 is a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) designed for use in a variety of water-based activities. RIBs like the Adventure 620 are known for their versatility and durability, making them an excellent choice for recreational use, as well as for commercial and military applications. Its rugged design and high-performance capabilities make it well-suited for use in a variety of conditions, from calm lakes and rivers to more challenging offshore environments.
The Adventure 620 features a deep-V hull and inflatable tubes made from high-quality Hypalon fabric, which provides excellent resistance to UV rays, abrasions, and punctures. The boat is 20.3 feet in length and has a beam 8.2 feet.
Mike Sandone has recently purchased an Avon Adventure 620 with the goal of exploring remote areas that are difficult to access otherwise. His primary objective is to trace the path taken by early European explorers along the Hudson River and locate LIDAR anomalies that may lead him to the first mines in the New World.
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” ~ Helen Keller
In preparation for his summer expeditions, Mike has made some upgrades and modifications to his boat. I accompanied Mike to do a shakedown of the boat to assure that it is ready to roll. He took the Avon Adventure 620 on a 50-mile run along the coast in the Long Island Sound, also known as The Devil’s Belt. Though some minor issues arose during the shakedown, the boat performed well overall.
